The Station

The West Tawakoni Police Department is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of our community. Our officers work diligently to prevent crime, reduce accidents, and uphold the highest standards of public service. We take great pride in serving the residents of the southeastern portion of Hunt County and remain committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all.

Mission

The mission of the West Tawakoni Police Department is to protect life and property, preserve public order, and enhance the quality of life within our city. We accomplish this through proactive policing, community engagement, and the consistent application of professional law enforcement practices.

Mutual Aid & Interagency Support
The West Tawakoni Police Department maintains cooperative relationships with neighboring law enforcement agencies, including the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office, surrounding municipal police departments, and regional public safety partners. Through mutual aid agreements and coordinated response protocols, the department enhances its ability to manage major incidents, emergencies, and resource‑intensive events.

In addition to general mutual aid arrangements, the department operates under a formal interlocal agreement with the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office that authorizes officers to operate beyond standard municipal boundaries when circumstances require expanded jurisdiction. This authority may be utilized during emergency situations, joint operations, or when ongoing investigations necessitate movement outside the city limits to ensure continuity and effectiveness.

These partnerships strengthen regional readiness and ensure that the community receives timely and effective support when additional assistance or cross‑jurisdictional coordination is required.

Service Commitment

Whether responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, or engaging with the public, the West Tawakoni Police Department remains steadfast in its commitment to serve with honor, diligence, and professionalism.

Department History

The West Tawakoni Police Department has served the community since the early years of the city’s incorporation, evolving alongside the growth and development of West Tawakoni and the surrounding region. Over the decades, the department has expanded its capabilities, modernized its equipment, and strengthened its operational standards. What began as a small, locally supported agency has grown into a professional, full‑service police department committed to proactive policing, community partnership, and the consistent delivery of high‑quality public safety services.

The department’s history reflects a longstanding commitment to integrity, accountability, and service. Through periods of growth, challenges, and change, the West Tawakoni Police Department has remained focused on its core mission: protecting life and property, preserving public order, and supporting a safe and thriving community.

Today, the department continues to honor its history while embracing modern policing practices, advanced training, and collaborative approaches that enhance safety throughout the southeastern portion of Hunt County.
